Well Canon have lifted the lid on another fantastic camera. If you are into video then this camera is for you. The “C” in the name is a bold statement from Canon branding the camera as a creative camera.
From what I have read the Canon EOS 1D C shares almost the same features as the identically looking Canon EOS 1D X camera. The internal build and circuitry of the newer camera handles the output temperature of the never seen before (in this size camera) amazing 4K (4,096 x 2,160) video ability. In simpler terms AWESOME FULL HD VIDEO QUALITY. The camera also has some features similar to the Canon C300 with the ability to capture a wide dynamic range and exposure latitude.
I would love to get my hands on one of these. Just imagine what the output quality would be like on the Full Frame 18 Megapixel CMOS sensor would be like! In my opinion this camera would be perfect for the cinema, media, documentary and wildlife industries due to the ability to use the new range of Cine lenses. The camera still boasts 12 frames per second and also has the ability to capture high res still images while shooting video. Canon have done well to expand the range of cine products before the other “yellow” brand. Now it is just going to be a waiting game until this camera ships late in the year from the pristine Canon factories in Japan.

“Budding Google social network sets itself apart

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Like the strong-willed youth it is, Google’s budding social network is confidently going its own way.
In an AFP interview, Google+ vice president Bradley Horowitz shrugged off Silicon Valley obsession with a Facebook rivalry and focused on the Internet titan playing to its strengths with an eye on the future.
“The way we think about Google+ is not pretending that today we can compete along every dimension of every competitor that is in a space,” Horowitz said.
“The goals for Google+ are long-ranging and broad,” he continued. “This is a reinvention of the consumer’s relationship with Google that is going to unfold over a period of years.”
The average number of people who use Google+ each month has climbed to 100 million since it opened to the public in September of last year. The figure for daily users is 50 million.
“Eventually, the 100 million users today are going to blossom into 500 million and by that time you will discover that all of your friends will be there on Google+,” Horowitz predicted.
A unique Hangouts feature that lets as many as ten people at once get together for group video chats is a huge draw at the online community.
Hangouts can be limited to invited friends or opened to anyone.
The US president, musician Will.i.am, Desmond Tutu and even the Dalai Lama have taken part in “On Air” hangouts in which intimate online gatherings can be openly viewed at the social network.
“We think looking somebody in the eye and communicating in the normal social way we’ve learned to do over millennia is important,” Horowitz said. “We wanted to bring that authenticity back into the equation.”
Hangouts have surprised the Google+ team. They have been used for language and music lessons. A stutterers’ support group uses them for group meetings.
Hangouts are used to let bedridden people virtually explore the world.
Longtime photographer John Butterill of Canada was new to Google+ when he took a sick friend on a “virtual photo walk” using a smartphone, a professional camera, and a hangout.
Butterill hiked snowy woods near his home during a streamed hangout in which his friend saw through the camera lens and directed the shots. A video of the walk posted at the social network went viral.
“I came home from the walk and there it was being shared by everyone,” Butterill told AFP. “My mouth dropped open.”
The friends launched a Virtual Photo Walks page at Google+ with a mission to “walk for those who can’t.”
Google+ users in cities around the world have signed on to act as legs and hands of people physically unable to venture out for themselves.
A photographer in Australia freshly recovered from a broken back virtually took a woman with Multiple Sclerosis on a walk to a beach in Perth.
“She said she never thought she’d hear the ocean again,” Butterill said. “These people really know how to choke you up.”
A photographer for nearly 40 years, Butterill insists that those directing shots get credit and rights to walk images.
“I am just the arms and legs,” Butterill said. “It is like the person on the other side is holding the camera. It’s just plain cool.”
Virtual photo walks can go beyond picture-taking to being a way for people with disabilities to attend meetings or political events or even negotiate contracts in real time, according to Butterill.
“A soldier could take his hospitalized friend virtually to a pub for beer,” he said.
Butterill’s vision includes taking sick children on virtual photo walks of Disneyland.
“When we brought hangouts to market we knew we had something very special, but there was no way of telling whether this would be the next Chatroulette or something more meaningful,” Horowitz said.
“It is really delightful when a product you built changes people’s lives and you get these heartfelt stories about how it has touched them.”
Google is weaving its social network into offerings such as its search engine and online video-sharing stage YouTube for a synergy that could offset the edge given Facebook by its network of more than 840 million members.
“Google of five years ago had many magical products, but they didn’t sing in harmony,” Horowitz said.
“We are creating a more comprehensive user experience across all of what we are doing,” he continued. “We are threading the needle very carefully to do that without spoiling the magic.”

As you all probably are aware social media is a massive part of my life. My social media coverage is expanding rapidly and I feel that I have to give back some of my knowledge and time to photographic community. I do this by offering as much advise that I can give out as well as free Fine Art Photographs.
This is reaching its limit due to my lack of free time. I currently work extremely hard running Leigh Diprose Photography Blog, Leigh Diprose Photography, Brides Perth, CameraED (coming very soon) and Valentine’s Camera House but I feel like I am not doing enough for the non photographers out there. So the next stage of my community outreach is through Virtual Photo Walks. My other outreach programs will continue as I have received a lot of positive feedback regarding the free Fine Art Photographs as well as the photographic and social media advise.
Enough about me! Let me fill you in - Virtual Photo Walks started just over 4 weeks ago by a few of my friends on Google+. John Butterill.
Simply Virtual Photo Walks is “To Know – To Care - To Act.” A photographer hosts a Google Plus Hangout and streams the feed live to a disabled community who don’t have the opportunity to get outdoors or even out of their beds. The hangout is interactive with many participants requesting what to take photos of during the LIVE feed. The feeling of bringing joy to someone who can’t walk just by climbing stairs is heartwarming and an emotional experience for many of the participants.
You will see me posting links and photographs about Virtual Photo Walks. I plan on doing my next Virtual Photo Walk with Paul Pichugin who is also behind this fantastic cause. How Virtual Photo Walks™ came about
Virtual Photo Walks came into existence as a result of a series of random events. I was out for a walk and saw that +Don Noll had started I hang out on G+. As we chatted in the hangout I was also trying to manage my IPhone and the Nikon D 7000 at the same time.
We talked about having an extension arm on the phone or something to make handling the phone easier to handle. After the hangout I was looking at my camera and the phone and suddenly realized that all that was needed was a hot shoe adapter for the Gymbl (http://www.youbiq.com/site/gymbl-pro/ ) which I was using as a phone case.
The +Gymbl which by designed by +Gordon Fowler (youbiq) for doing virtual reality tours it comes with a tripod, IPhone case, and an adapter that allows it to sit on a tripod.
I called Gordon and suggested putting an adapter on the bottom of the Gymbl so that it could be mounted on the hot shoe of the DSLR.
With the IPhone mounted in this way I went for my next walk, I fortunately came upon a Barred owl and thought I would show it to my friends on Google+ I contacted them and they watch me photograph the owl, on google+ hangouts. +Andy Gray took some screenshots of that and posted them with his comments on his page

We had an interesting Hangout earlier as we joined our friend+John Butterill on a walk through the Canadian countryside spotting wildlife to photograph. To broadcast these John uses an#iPhonemounted on a +Gymbl iPhone holder attached to the hotshoe on his +Nikon DSLR, which kinda makes the whole thing look like someone wielding a bazooka in a 1st person shooter to us!
At the point you see below he was photographing a Barred Owl (Not a Barn Owl as previously stated). He’s since posted an excellent shot of the owl perched in a tree from later in his wildlife walk. We were all kind of excited because we realized this was a new way of going on photo shoot.

The next evening I was in a hangout with +C.Cory Fisk . She is bed ridden and was talking to +Helen Sotiradis +Don Noll +Rogier Root about how the only thing she could photograph was what she could see out her window. I simply spoke up and said Corey I’ll take you on a photo shoot, and you can tell me what you want to take pictures of because you will be seeing through the IPhone on Google+ what I can see through the viewfinder. The next day we did our first, now called a +Virtual Photo Walkwith +Don Noll , +AndyUnknown, +RogIer Rood who recorded it for You Tube. You can watch on channel Jbutterill or on the + Virtual Photo Walks page. We all had a lot of fun and it went very well.
Following that I was in a hangout with +Frank Garufi Jr and he was telling me about his son going into the hospital for an infusion which is very uncomfortable and painful for an 8-year-old. Again I simply said I’ll take him for a photo walk around my community and keep them distracted during the process, this was a great fun event and it was not recorded but Frank took a few pictures of his son during the photo walk watching me on the computer. +Frank Garufi Jr then posted them with a very emotional thank you for me doing it. This post was number 8 on what’s hot on Google+ for about 8 hours on Friday the day of the photo walk.
Crohns Colitis – My Son’s Battle
Domenic’s Infusion for February 2012
Some of you might remember the interview that +Shefali Burnsdid with me, back in the beginning of January, about Crohns Colitis disease and how my son has been battling it since he was born ( http://youtu.be/wP7cNbsbJHk ). Its a constant struggle for him, and unfortunately, one that he’ll have to struggle with for the rest of his life.
One, of the many, things we have to do is a monthly infusion of a medication called Remicade. The entire process is roughly 6 hours long and requires it to be administered in the hospital ( Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia ).
Today was our scheduled appointment for the month of February and Domenic got a special surprise thanks to +John Butterill and the sheer power and greatness of +Google+ Hangouts.
Armed with his IPhone, Nikon camera, and probably 10 layers of clothing, +John Butterill took my son on a photo walk around Rosedale, Ontario, Canada while he was getting his infusion done. Domenic loved every minute of it! For the hour that John braved the harsh weather conditions to show my son around Rosedale, my son didn’t have to worry about blood pressure cuff’s squeezing his arm too tight, the uncomfortableness of having tubes stuck through his arm, the drip rate of the medicine “burning” him ( the meds must be administered at a specific rate per hour ), or having to be stuck in a hospital when he much rather be at school!!!
+John Butterill is nothing less than a saint in my eyes! He brought a TON of joy to my son today, of what otherwise would have been, another excruciating day for him! This isn’t the first time John has done it either. He took +C. Corey Fisk on a similar photo walk ( http://goo.gl/6Dh0z ).

Dom – February 2012 Infusion with Photowalk (7 photos)
Frank and I along with +Bruce Garber, +Gordon Fowler and others decided that there should be a page on Google+ to spread the word about this exciting way to help people.
Now we have that page and photographers around the world are stepping up to help conduct photo walks around the world. Events are scheduled in Amsterdam Rome Germany Canada Australia New Zealand.
I took this image yesterday morning in Fremantle, Western Australia when Paul Pichugin and myself had a semi-impromptu Google+ hangout. This was a test run for what is to come for when we broadcast LIVE. Exciting times ahead.
Let me start by saying this really isn’t a review on the Olympus E-P3….just a whole lot of messing around trying to be creative.
I didn’t want to list the features in point form so I put a little video together for you all to have a look at. Sorry for the delay but I have been extremely busy…does anyone want a PA job????

CameraED photography tutorials is a creative branch of Leigh Diprose Photography.
The header “CameraED” will be found on my new site which will combine the following sites: Leigh Diprose Photography, Leigh Diprose Photography Blog, BridesPerth and CameraED. Also I will be planning to have a dedicated area on the site for my Fine Art Photography which will be available to download for FREE!
I am planning to use CameraED to create some style and reviews in the photographic world. I have a stack of plans and goals to achieve this year and I look forward to sharing my ideas and thoughts with you all. The total project will be a slow start due to some major changes in my life however once the new site is live later on this year there will be an opportunity to contribute photographs, stories and reviews from approved contributors. Take a look at this example I noticed at work today. Robbie Williams is holding a BLACK Nikon Coolpix camera to take a photo of the crowd in the Nikon “I AM” commercial…..
Now take a look at the real video. He is actually using a SILVER camera not a BLACK camera. Fooled? Should we even believe that this is a Nikon Camera? Did this ad make you want to go out and buy a stylish Nikon Coolpix? Let me know what you think by posting a comment on the blog.

I attended one of my favourite hangouts in recent week last night courtesy of +Leigh Diprose. The topic of discussion was Sharing good practice when it comes to photography. As the hangout went on we watched the sun come up through his window, and welcomed in New Years Eve.
+Leigh Diprose is a Great Photographer, recently arrived on G+ and he is based in Australia, he has a wealth of excellent images to share with the community and last night was his first hangout, unsure of the response he took the plunge and it paid off.
We had +Vitaliy Darovskikh sharing images of his back yard… which included an ice-rink and some deer. +Justin Hill was also there sharing images of close up insects and a particularly tricky macro of a tigers face. +Randy Ksar was busy sharing images of scenic Canada, and +mark helm was sharing amazing macro images of bugs
+Leigh Diprose has said he will be doing more hangouts on a regular basis, so circle him and hangout with this amazing photographer.
You may have guessed I’m addicted to photography and social media. People often ask me why they should use facebook, twitter or even google plus…..hopefully this post will offer some insite.
Firstly social media platforms are a tool to distribute your content. I rely heavily on all my social media platforms to broadcast my content.
The social media platforms I use are:
Facebook, Facebook Page, Twitter, Google plus, Linkedin, Flickr, Tumblr, Instragram, Friendfeed, Myspace, Blogger, Wordpress, Youtube, Vimeo, Spreecast and various photography forums.
This list of social media platforms will continue to grow. I predict in the near future I will be on 100+ social media platforms.
Each platform is linked directly to my blog on wordpress (where you can subscribe – shameless plug!)
All of the platforms mentioned offer different styles of subscribing to increase your audience. For example Twitter people follow you and Facebook people like you. It is a matter of engaging with users by developing content that drives you. Photography is the driving force for me.
It is very important for me to make this next step clear. If you are going to go down the road of social media to increase your audience then you better have lots of time on your hands. Social media borders on a full time job (same cases it is). Constantly checking every platform you post to as well as commenting and engaging with your audience is no walk in the park. When you post a photo be prepared to spend hours on the computer talking to people about the photo and offer advice where it is needed…at this point you may think this is not for me….if you think that then yes you are probably right – it isn’t for you! It takes a focused individual to engage with the online social world. The reason I do it is I get so much joy out of sharing my photographic knowledge with others. I mean what is the point of keeping it all to yourself??
So now that you have your content out on all your social media platforms how do you measure how you are going? One word – KLOUT. Klout is a fantastic tool to measure your influence. According to Klout everyone has influence. So connect with Klout and give me a +K if this post has influenced you. (another shameless plug!)
Almost every social media platform out there has some sort of stat program attached. Although you have to be careful about stat watching…..simple answer don’t look at your stats for the first 6 months! Numbers don’t matter. You should be doing this purely for the joy that you get out of it. I mean… I love photography. I live for anything photographic. So stats don’t matter to me. It’s the joy I get out of sharing that counts.
I don’t want to go into too much more on this subject…I could be here all day. I encourage everyone reading this to get out there any share their great content armed with this new knowledge.
