The Crowded


Its been a busy week for me. Safely back in Perth after two short trips to Port Hedland, Karratha and Kalgoorlie. All places that I have only visited for the first time.

I did have some trouble carting my camera equiptment around. I was slugged $150 for “excess baggage” just because I had my gear in a “big” looking case…..which weighed a whopping 14kgs. I had to put my tail between my legs and accept the fact that my precious cargo was going to have to go in the hold and that I would have to buy a few less coffees the week later.

If anyone out there has any suggestions for transporting lots of photography equipment on domestic & international flights let me know! The total of my camera kit weighs 21kgs (excluding tripods).

My first image from Port Hedland!

I shot this image just on the outskirts of Port Hedland. Used a Manfrotto 303SPH pano head combined with a sigma 10mm f2.8 fisheye.

The branch of the tree was about 10cm from the end of the lens. A total of 5 images where used.

Take off


If you probably haven’t guessed it already I love bird photography! Camera or no camera, I can sit and watch birds for hours on end just learning there behavior. I think learning an animals behavior is the key to get a decent photo of it.

Busy Busy Busy


Well I am preparing for big things this year. Africa, Tasmania and New Zealand. I just hope I get to all these places….

Staying local over the next month – Northam,  the Pilbara next week, then Kalgoorlie. Looking forward to seeing a few more photos posted soon….keep an eye out.

Sorry to everyone who has been hanging out for some visual inspiration…I have been busy renovating (again!) after guttering  the kitchen and garden – they are almost finished. YAY! I can’t wait until the day where I can open a beer and put my feet up not having to pick up a hammer ever again!
