Let Loose In Photoshop

See what happens when I play with paint and brushes? I think all the finger painting in my childhood paid off!

Portrait Photography in Fremantle

After work yesterday I ventured to the top of Monument Hill in Fremantle to take advantage of its towering presence over the suburbs. The clouds were out in full force bouncing some beautiful light and it was my goal to capture them for later Photoshop use.

The sun was setting and I had carded a few great shots when I noticed another photographer in the area photographing a beautiful model.

I approached them both and introduced myself.  I then asked if it would be okay to take a few photos, to which they replied no worries. My cloud photos could wait!

I found out the photographer and model had only been in Australia just over a month…when I asked them, are you enjoying living here? They both replied at the same time “its hot!”

Portrait Photography – Jess Hall

Last weekend I stopped into Mel and Shawn’s studio in Geraldton, Western Australia to lend a hand and test out the Fujifilm X Pro 1.

I was amazed at the depth of field the camera provided. I wanted to capture the depth in her beautiful eyes. The settings I used:

ISO 800 (to add texture to her hair) – 35mm – f2 – 1/120 sec.

What do you think? Do you think Jess’s eyes stand out?

Camera Course

Last week Andrew Halsall and myself (Leigh Diprose) ran a Camera Course which was promoted through selected Camera House stores; Midland, Morley, Joondalup and Fremantle. On the course participants were encouraged to interact with their cameras on a completely new level. The course covered everything from camera controls, landscape, portrait, macro, flash photography and quite a bit more!

The highlight of the course was putting all the new knowledge to practice with a model shoot out a Araluen Botanical Park in Roleystone. Participants were put into groups and were assigned a task to produce the best portrait photograph. A customer from Joondalup Camera House took out the best portrait photograph and was awarded an awesome Kata bag!

The next course dates and location (the next course will be held in Fremantle) have been finalised so make sure you book early as spots are limited.

If you would like to find out more information about the camera courses please visit the camera course website here. On the website you will also find details of the brand new Adobe Lightroom course.

Pictured below are some of the photographs from the small group model shoot. Enjoy.
