Love My Rotto

Rottnest Island is surrounded by pristine waters and only a short trip from the mainland making it a great weekend getaway. The locals refer to the island paradise as ‘Rotto’. For me this photograph captured on the Fujifilm X-Pro 1, sums up the island perfectly. Pristine beaches, clear water and amazing views – what more could you want?  You can even see the City of Perth (which is my hometown) on the distant horizon!

City Of Perth – Christmas Sparkle

After working most of the day on a photography shoot in the City of Perth I wandered around the streets taking in the sights and sounds of the Christmas celebrations.

Dazzling Christmas decorations, a rotund Santa and a walking Christmas tree (lady on stilts) were some of the festive highlights of the Christmas city scape. The place was full of cheer and joy as families shopped in the summer sun.

Considering the abundance of festive spirit which surrounded me I decided to photograph with a Christmas theme in mind.  So I give you the abstract West Australian version of snow flakes – water frozen in time!

These photos were taken at the fountain at newly developed Forrest Chase. Merry Christmas!

Below is the final image I managed to capture before the battery died again!

Crab

Something about this image grabs my attention. I think it is the clear blue water in the background.  I was keen to get out and about and try my new 400mm f5.6 L lens. I’m planning to take this lens to Africa – September next year. Can’t wait!

African Elephant

What is with my mind only being creative at night???? It seems like I only post images late at night!

I searched my Elephant data base and found this image which was perfect for a bit of B&W and a touch of film grain.

My thoughts are the blacks in the image are a little bit too crushed but hey I kind of like that.

Thanks for taking the time to view my images.  I really enjoy your comments so keep them coming!
